Resumen
The present research proposes: design a visitor management system for the Colta lagoon, canton Colta, province of Chimborazo: to guide, control and regulate appropriately the management of visits, such as minimizing or preventing the negative impacts generated by tourism through: the evaluation of impacts for tourism developing procedures for measuring indicators and standards (LAC) in a participative way, achieving to identify 16 impact indicators of type: biophysical, social and management; by which it was determined that the Colta lagoon is in an Alert state, since it exceeds the acceptable change limits proposed for the valuation. Then a tourism use zoning was made (SISMAVIS) generating a range of recreational opportunities in the 3 sites of visit (educational area, recreational area and nearby intensive area), determining the objectives, levels of use and prescriptions related to the interventions of physical, social and administrative desired. In addition, visitor management strategies were defined through a programmatic planning structure consisting of 3 programs of (Environmental Education, Monitoring of visiting sites and Adaptation of visiting sites and control) and 6 projects aimed at solving the problem of visitor management, defined for a period of 5 years and a total investment of $ 156,160.00. In the visitor management system, the current situation of the Colta lagoon is considered as a starting point to improve and consolidate the tourism activity of the Colta lagoon in a planned manner so as to generate the minimum impact.
