Resumen
The objective of this research was to determine the optimum density for the breeding of Tarpon (Brycon melanopterus), in Fatima Parish, Pastaza Province and Canton. There were 12 experimental units used consisting of ponds of 2 m2 with a total area of 24 m2, in which different planting densities were applied (4-6-8 fish/m2) with a total of 144 fish, these being the observational units. The experimental work lasted 90 days. The semovientes developed in the same environmental, nutritional and sanitary conditions. The treatments were distributed in a Completely Random Design (CRD) with a total of three treatments with four repetitions per treatment. Descriptive statistics were used for the variables mortality, unit cost of production and Benefit/Cost Ratio ($). The data estimated in the field were subjected to an analysis of variance (ADEVA), to the separation of means by TUKEY with a significance level of (P≤0.05). The results determined significant differences (P≤0.05) in the analysis of variance for final weight and feed conversion with 18.73 g and 2.40 g, respectively, while there were no significant differences (P≥0.05) for the variables initial weight and feed consumption with 0.38 g, and 45.46 g, the mortality estimate was 6.25%, with the T3 treatment achieving the best results. It is concluded that the adequate stocking density is 8 fish/m2 and recommending estimating the productive parameters for the Tarpon in stages of growth and fattening in order to determine the best profitability and establish physical-chemical characteristics in controlled ponds.
