Resumen
The following investigation's work was to conduct a study based on clinical reviews of postpartum hemorrhage which is considered one of the most serious obstetric complications and one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Despite efforts in the health field to reduce their numbers, it still causes maternal deaths and represents a health problem. A non-experimental, retrospective and a descriptive investigation was conducted to observe the clinical epidemiological behavior of postpartum hemorrhage in the Hospital Provincial General Riobamba in the period January 2017- December 2018, in a total of 117 women who presented the pathology. The present investigation concluded that in our population, the prevalence of postpartum hemorrhage is 2%, with maternal age prevailing from 18 to 35 years, the majority of the population living in urban areas, primary education level, and marital status married. The most frequent cause was the tone and the main management made the pharmacological. Risk factors for our population were identified: low educational level, multiparity, vaginal delivery, blood group 0+. The ratio of shock and blood transfusions did not have a significant value in our study. It is recommended to socialize the results in such a way that it can determine patients who present risk factors and take preventive measures.
