Resumen
This research purpose is to evaluate if there is any relationship among the glycosylated hemoglobin reference values and the presence of nephropathy in patients diagnosed with Mellitus diabetes Type 2 who received medical attention in the General Hospital in Riobamba (IESS) in the January 2017 - January 2018 period. The type of study is descriptive, transversal, and retrospective. A total of 2655 medical histories of patients diagnosed with mellitus diabetes were analyzed and an elaborated database created by the author was used, considering this number a random sampling by conglomerates was made by grouping the population according to the month when they received medical attention and the sample were 362 patients. The study results demonstrate that the prevalence of nephropathy is high (40, 6%) especially in women ages 34-64. During the research the data showed that the patients have not received an adequate control of HbA1c (glycosylated hemoglobin test) and the nephropathy is marked by the presence of albuminuria with a value of -p <0, 01 which is a significant value; therefore, it is concluded that the variables are related. Then, the importance of the HbA1c in patients with diabetes type 2 is demonstrated, this contributes to a new approach for the diagnosis of the pathology and its control as a complement to the already stablished procedures. It is recommended to develop studies of longitudinal type associated with these variables to prove its effectiveness in this scenery.
