Resumen
The objective of the present investigation was to identify the trophic level of macroinvertebrates of the Chimbo river basin. To start, the inventory of the macroinvertebrates of the studied basin was made. Data was collected through the Surber Network method and Direct Capture. The findings demonstrated that there are 1074 individuals divided into 22 families, being the Hyallelidae and Leptophlebiidae families the most abundant. These families belong to the collecting-scrapers trophic groups and the detritivores, the presence of these macroinvertebrates prove the existence of organic matter, debris and decomposing organic matter. In addition, it could be observed that there are wastewater landfills and agricultural activities near the river basin. Consecutively, the cenotic analysis of the macroinvertebrates was performed along the Chimbo river basin through Biodiversity Indices, Bray Curtis similarity test, Water quality indices through biological parameters (BMWP / Col, BMWP / Pe, BMWP / Bol, ABI / Ecu, IA), Water Quality Index (ICA-1970) observing physical-chemical parameters. The analysis was based on TULSMA (2015) regulated by the MAE, the results showed that all sections have alterations both in aquatic life and in water resources with a water quality ranging from REGULAR to POOR. Finally, all sections were studied, from the moor to the lower basin of the Chimbo river. This research seeks to develop an Environmental Management Plan for the Chimbo river basin with the purpose of conserving macroinvertebrates. The plan consists of 3 programs aimed at conserving water resources and their biodiversity; environmental education, and monitoring of the environmental management plan.
