This titling work aimed at developing a digital Gastronomic Guide through a mobile
application, which will allow the food sector to be promoted as a touristic reference. For which
two methodologies were used: the first of design called Visual Thinking that allowed to shape
all the graphics part, the second of software called Methodology for Mobile Application
Development (MMAD) which possess stages to generate success applications. The
investigation from primary sources was conducted, interviewed the representatives of the chefs'
schools of Riobamba city and also the Directorate of Tourism Management database was
accessed to delineate and segment local gastronomy, information that defined the businesses
and courses which would be photographed and uploaded to the application. Formulated the
definitive information called MIKUNA it was established the software characteristics, exclusive
for Android version 5 or higher, it is more practicable at present considering that is in the 85.0
of the total of active devices according to the enterprise. Later the information architecture was
defined allowing to generate the screen prototypes which would facilitate the programming of
the software android studio. Once the development was completed, emulations and simulations
were made obtaining favorable results without errors of functionality and accessibility, tests that
would later take place in real devices evaluated by the staff members of the Directorate of
Tourism Management, the software was 99% accepted. Therefore, the MIKUNA application is
defined as a powerful tool of communication and of the diffusion of content, which is presented
as a modern alternative to promotion with relatively lower costs than traditional advertising and
that will boost the economy of the gastronomic sector.
