Resumen
In this research, an analysis of the diversity and floristic composition of the páramo was carried out in the Pucará sector, seven lakes in the Pilahuín area, Ambato city, Tungurahua province in order to collect the information in the field; the procedures described in the Gloria project manual were used; the species collected were identified in the ESPOCH herbarium. From this information, the Simpson and Shannon indices were calculated, as well as the importance value index. It was determined that the moorland was made up of 12 families, 19 gender and 21 species, with a total of 1667 individuals. The family that registered the highest importance value index was ASTERACEAE with 36.39%, followed by POACEAE (22.68%) and GERANIACEAE (16.63%). The families FABACEAE (1.22%) and APIACEAE (1.16%) registered the lowest index. Geranium sibbaldioides Benth with 14.28% was the species that registered the highest value of importance. This species was considered as a bioindicator of the place of study, since its greater coverage was an indication that they controlled the energy and nutrients that were managed in the ecosystem with a noticeable tendency to Ln (20) = 2.99. This indicates that the moorland had a high diversity of species. Consequently, it was able to provide ecosystem services to the inhabitants of the area, since the results recorded indicate that its biodiversity had not been altered by the anthropic activities that took place in its surroundings from one place to another one.
