Resumen
This research work objective is to know the causes and effects of Ascetic Syndrome, as well as the incidence of mortality and preventive measures against this disease in the Cobb 500 chicken line. The information for the research analysis was obtained through books, scientific articles, blogs, and theses on digital platforms such as Scielo, Avicultura.mx, Vetmex, El Sitio Avícola, etc. These syndrome causes are related to genetics, nutrition, environment, management, and susceptibility of male chicks, causing rapid growth in muscle mass, a greater fat accumulation in the thoracic cage, and turn a high demand for oxygen for their metabolic activity. The mortality incidence due to ascites syndrome (AS) was found in birds fed ad libitum with 18.81%, while in broilers with quantitative and qualitative diets the lowest percentage was 3.03 and 3.66. Deaths due to environmental temperatures were also found from the third week of life with 3.32%, thus showing that as the temperature decreased the percentage of mortality was higher; however, through an adequate control in feeding and management such as temperatures, ventilation, etc., will help to prevent this pathology. It is concluded that ascites affect poultry farmers because it is a group of diverse pathologies, characterized by the accumulation of liquid in the abdominal cavity, hypoxia, cardiopulmonary failures, being the most predisposing factors. Therefore, to prevent this syndrome, the origin of the BB chicks should be taken into consideration, which should be from certified hatcheries, to avoid morphological damages that increase the incidence the ascites syndrome (AS).
