Resumen
Simulation and design of a delayed coking plant for the treatment of oil waste with 6.5º API co- ming from two visbreaking units ofEsmeraldas Refinery in order to obtain hydrocarbons ofhigher added value such as: LPG, naphthas and gas oils. The main physicochemical properties of visbreaking units' residues were determined by labo- ratory essays and the characterization of the fluid was simulated using a commercial software. The operating conditions of the visbreaking units were obtained and with this information the simulation and mass balance of the delayed coking plant were carried out. Equipment and pipes of the plant were sized using criteria and design recommendations established by specialized bibliography. The products' yields obtained by simulation are: 7 .5 % of gases (C4-), 9 .27 % of naphtha, 20.62% of light gas oil (LCGO), 32.02 % of heavy gas oil (HCGO) and 30.59 % coke.
