Resumen
The present case is about a patient with congenital Hydranencephaly, born in Quito at Isidro Ayora obstetric gynecological hospital, being already diagnosed at 28 weeks of gestation, by an obstetric ultrasound. The 41-year-old mother with an obstetric history: gestations 3, births 2, cesareans 1. The two first children without any significant pathology. Taking in mind that Hydranencephaly is defined as the cerebral hemispheres almost entirety absence, besides of being a rare presentation, whose etiology have not been defined yet. The patient is known at the Salcedo Health Center B type, drawing m attention in one of my home visits, that is why I conducted the present study with the objective of investigating the possible causes of this pathology. And with this, we can identify the patient’s mother risk factors that could have been a predisposing factor for the disease development, since it is considered that this disease has a intrauterine development. The Disease current prognosis is not very encouraging and most patients die at birth with this pathology and other survivors with an average of 2 to 3 years of age. In the child case that is 1 year 8 months, with conservative treatment, adequate medication, isolation and taking care of factors that can make the patient susceptible. In addition , the patient receives early stimulation, with psychological therapy for the family and for the girl, taking in mind that pathology is difficult for all those who takes care of the child.
