Resumen
This research proposes: to design a program of management of the birdwatching for the sustainable use of the Pasochoa Wildlife Refuge; through the use of experimental and application methods, and using bibliographic and field research techniques for the collection of information. Three stages were designed: the first one corresponds to the determination of the avifaunistic potential of the Refuge, which by means of an ornithological inventory identified 102 bird species, which were recorded through counting points and transects in line; The biodiversity studies made it possible to identify the areas with high potential for this activity, and determined the potentiality index for birdwatching and their distances of alert and flight, thus establishing maximum ranges of approach. The second, through the market stud that analyzes the current situation of the attractive, activities, infrastructure, plant and potential tourist demand that would be willing to carry out activities related to the observation of birds. In the third, the strategic framework is established, establishing guidelines for biodiversity conservation, heritage interpretation, local development and tourism strengthening; Six subprograms and 14 projects are structured, with a total investment of US $ 252,050.00; Finally, operational planning is established for the implementation of the management program, which consists of activities to be carried out for each project within a period of five years. The birdwatching management program establishes guidelines for the promotion of birdwatching activity and the protection of the bird-fauna present in the area. It is recommended that the Governing Administration of the area follow up the proposed sub-programs.
