Resumen
The objective of this research was to determine the differences through a comparative analysis
between the existing performance of a sample of four Chevrolet vehicles using eighty seven
octane fuel without additives. Two types of tests were carried out for it, one dynamic and the
other static. For the first, a 16.5 km route was proposed in altitude conditions from 2,900 meters
above sea level to 3,550 meters above sea level. Speed and resolutions during the driving cycle,
an ELM 327 scanner and the "Torque Pro" application were used to obtain real data on
consumption. While for the static test using a KANE brand gas analyzer, the percentage values
of the exhaust gases such as CO, CO2, O2 and HC were obtained, being evaluated at the end of
each dynamic test. Based on this, there was a total of sixteen tests, eight without additive, in which
their results were applied in the Minitab statistical program allowing the use of methods such as
Fisher, the same one that had a reliability factor of 99%, this with the interest of knowing
comparisons between the two states of vehicles. Among the results, a positive response was
obtained in terms of fuel efficiency, so that three out of four vehicles showed a higher performance
while in exhaust gas emissions there was no clear trend. In conclusion, it was determined that the
effect is independent in each vehicle according to its state, it means, years of life, and maintenance
care, among others, and that the additive did generate changes in behavior, but it was not decisive
for optimal performance. In turn, it was recommended to be specific with the conditions in which
the vehicles will be tested in order to obtain more reliable results.
