This work carries out a journalistic investigation with the intention of gathering information that allows us to execute our communicative product, revealing the symbolic significance of the main character of this holiday, the "Black Mama", which takes place every year in November in the city of Latacunga.
To achieve the development of this research, we organize an accompaniment to the work team, during the preparation and the tour; the parade that took place on November 23, 2019, where an exhaustive coverage was carried out to acquire the necessary information that served to make the photo report, in addition to knowing fully the clothing that she wears and the details of the makeup.
The character of the "Black Mama" of November, represents a form of civic expression that commemorates the independence or political party, is immersed in research and is related to the character for which this party is celebrated. Therefore, it is concluded that this popular festival carries out a meaning of patriotism with religious overtones that present a kind of rituality, since it is also a tradition of the city, while its makeup points to significance, enhancing the women of Latacunga and the Afro women of our country.
