Resumen
Microenterprises are 90 % of the total companies, approximately in Ecuador, which are formed by individuals who develop individual enterprises, retail businesses, service or manufacturing workshops that provide employment and economic resources. One of these sectors is the service of Documentation Centers that provide copying, printing, small-scale advertising, as well as binding and other additional services such as laminating, spiral binding, and plotting of plans.
This field research is focused on eliminating waste in the Production and Operations area of copying and printing, in order to improve productivity and therefore profitability. For this purpose, the Lean Manufacturing methodology has been used with its tools such as VSM to define the current situation of the microenterprise, to subsequently identify waste through the 5S operational tools and the 7 wastes that identify the changes in all processes.
This study identifies the overall equipment efficiency (OEE) and then analyzes the place where machine stoppages or failures occur in order to develop a Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) schedule to improve the performance of the equipment. Finally, parameters are established for autonomous maintenance by the operators, which are necessary to extend the useful life of the equipment.
In the final part, it is concluded that the 5S tools, Kanban, standardization, TPM, and autonomous maintenance allow the microenterprise to operate in an agile way, since its processes are mixed, both service and production, its action is pull, as all production is by means of a drag from the customer. This field study allows the proposal to identify continuous improvement, thereby increasing productivity and profitability.
