Resumen
Radio over fiber links is important for large integrated high-performance networks. They
are called integrated networks because what they look for is the convergence of wired
networks with wireless networks.
RoF technology is seen as the most promising solution to meet the demand for new
multimedia services ensuring optimal quality, combining the capacity of optical
networks with the scalability and mobility of wireless networks which reduces the cost
of access networks. RoF networks will allow high transmission rates combined with
high bandwidth to achieve high scalability and the ability to change the radius of
coverage according to user needs, these are just some of the advantages of these
systems.
The project "Analysis and simulation of a radio over fiber link (RoF) at 60 GHz" is a
research project that has as main objective to characterize a radio transmission over
optical fiber at 60 GHz in both mathematical computing software Matlab as OptSim
specialized software, which is a design environment, simulation and performance
evaluation of optical communication systems. To meet this objective was first made a
study of the state of the art of RoF systems, followed by the study of the techniques and
models used to simulate the RoF links, later two mathematical models were
implemented on simulators to evaluate the performance presented by these
communication systems and analyze their advantages and disadvantages.
At the end of this research is pretend to have a simulation model of radio links over
optical fiber that will not only serve to teach this subject in the curriculum of students of
electrical engineering career, but also a point basis for future research in this field.
