Resumen
The present investigation was based on the evaluation of the antimicrobial activity of the essential oils of ginger (Zingiber officinale) and turmeric (Curcuma longa) and against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 12600. Initially, the physical-chemical characteristics of the EAs were evaluated, complying with all the quality standards. Within the comparison of the antimicrobial activity by disc test, concentrations of 25%, 50% and 100% of the essential oils were used, having greater inhibition A100% (7.56mm) and B50% (7.11mm). In the determination of the CMI at concentrations of 5%, 2.5%, 1.25%, 0.63%, 0.31%, 0.16%, 0.08% and 0.04% of the AE; and at wavelengths of 450 nm - 630 nm, the MIC for A was 0.31% and for B of 1.25%. With respect to the comparative analysis of the results, it was developed by Tukey's method, accepting the alternative hypothesis.
