Los estereotipos étnicos en las ilustraciones del texto escolar de ciencias sociales del sexto año de educación general básica

Resumen
The case study arises through a problem about the graphic content in the texts according to ethnic stereotypes. The school book is a didactic tool present in the teaching exercise, this device has illustrations and information that contribute to the teaching and learning of educational actors. Therefore, it is important to have knowledge of the subject to identify the stereotypes in the illustrated content, since these prejudices are presented to the receiver through it. The objective of this research is to analyze the representation of ethnic stereotypes in illustrations with the purpose of contributing with new references that allow their eradication in educational action. The methodology used is mixed; descriptive scope; methods: hermeneutical and statistical; techniques: content analysis and counting; non-participant observation; and the instrument: data matrix. As a result, it was obtained that the illustrations of the sixth grade Social Sciences textbook show how mainly the white ethnic group in terms of the number of images and the description of them based on the activities carried out reflects inequality between ethnic groups. In conclusion, the texts used by teachers must be evaluated in terms of informative and graphic content before being presented to students, since these and more precisely those of Social Sciences show the Ecuadorian social reality.
