Resumen
The musical education in Costa Rica, inside the programs of general basic educacion, is mostly neglected and ignored. There is a lack of attention and a lack of interest to strengthen it and to make it better. Aside of this, the musical education in other institutions (municipal schools or private schools), is forced to stop its growth due to the lack of infrastructure for its performance. There are people of every age with an interest in musical learning, but the right conditions to achieve it are scarce.
People usualy ignore the psycological, cognitive, social and even academic benefits that music has on them; and that is something that everybody should take advantage of, and something that the state institutions should pay attention to.
The Municipal Music School of Santo Domingo is the exact example of a non-lucrative institution that tries to benefit the community of Santo Domingo through the musical learning. However, its growth is stopped due to the lack of institutional support, and due to the lack of space and infrastructure in spite of its high demand.
The main idea is to reinforce the musical learning in this institution through spacial, acoustic, and teaching factors; all of them applied to a new and self-owned space that will encourage musical learning and the musical exposition of Santo Domingo, to the point of having an impact in the whole province.
