Resumen
The present project was developed in the School of Science and Engineering
in Materials, located in the Technological of Costa Rica in the province of Cartago.
This school provides teaching services, training in thermal treatments, corrosives,
development of non-destructive tests, among others. The objective of the project is to
propose a human security program for fires, earthquakes and floods.
The methodology used in the analysis of the existing hazard conditions in the
School of Materials Science and Engineering was the application in buildings of a set
of checklists based on national regulations, in addition to the application of focus
groups and structured interviews to the teaching and student population. On the other
hand, natural threats were evaluated with a matrix to assess threats in work centers.
The data obtained were analyzed in a matrix based on the INTE 31-06-07: 2011, for
the identification of hazards and evaluation of all existing risks in the facilities
associated with the work carried out in this, and the risk of fire it was calculated and
analyzed using the Meseri method.
The analysis of the information showed that the school has deficiencies in
areas such as salvage signage, structural problems, poor state of the electrical
systems, lack of means of combat against fires, among others. The risk of fires
existing in school facilities was classified as medium risk, which is unacceptable for
an educational institution. Earthquakes and structural flooding presented a constant
danger to buildings. As a result, a human security program for fire, earthquakes and
floods was proposed, through which a series of corrective measures of the conditions
identified in the school are offered.
