This paper aims to investigate the legitimacy of the wars waged between the State of Israel and the Palestinian organization Hamas. The State of Israel was founded in 1948 as a result of Zionism, a movement that emerged in Europe during the nineteenth century. The mobilization encouraged the establishment of Jewish settlers in Palestine, a region with a largely Arab population. The Hamas group, in turn, emerged in 1987 as one of the branches of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. Its objective is to constitute an independent and sovereign Palestinian Islamic State, with the city of Jerusalem as its capital. Today, the Jewish state and the fundamentalist organization are protagonists in the clashes in the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian region that suffers from a shortage of commodities and is densely populated. Given the above, this paper analyzes the behavioral aspect of the above mentioned actors. Subsequently, it identifies the degree of alignment of its strategies with the principles established by the Just War Doctrine. Data collection was done through literature review of works such as Clausewitz's “Da Guerra” and Hugo Grotius's “The Law of War and Peace”; Theses; Dissertations; scientific articles and international news agencies
