PAMPA AND WOMAN: Context and character of the regional literature of the saltpeter pampa Chilean.

Abstract

Literature carries in its essence the cultural register of the sector in which the The author places it, in turn, maintains and generates new cultural spaces: without the need to narrate real historical events, this manages to capture the imaginary of diverse landscapes, the characterization and daily life of its characters, the detail of their actions and the identity of a context of inspiration that, in contextualized literature in the Pampa Salitrera, forms part of the memory of a people overwhelmed by modernity, from the fall of the white gold boom. The description of the Atacama desert, the dryness of the environment, the sound of the wind, extreme weather, fear of soaking, among other issues, are present in the contextualized literature in the nitrate cantons located between the current regions of Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá and Antofagasta. The texts that frame their literary context in this sector make visible through literature, local identity: it is a different context, which gives it forms a literature dissimilar to other registers. Not being focused on themes of the metropolis, beyond its geographical character, does not tend to be a text recognized as part of the national canon, generally it is considered subordinate, a reflection of an unknown local imaginary and little common for many, but registration of roots and identity for others. Northern literature builds the identity of the sector and gives life to the concept of “Pampa”, generating a metaphorized personification, which conditions the experiences of the characters: death and its normalization, the constant strike, abuse, betrayal, beliefs, conditions deplorable in which the workers lived and the slaughter as a solution to conflicts.

La literatura lleva en su esencia el registro cultural del sector en que el autor la sitúa, a su vez, mantiene y genera nuevos espacios culturales: sin la necesidad de narrar acontecimientos históricos reales, esta logra plasmar el imaginario de diversos paisajes, la caracterización y cotidianeidad de sus personajes, el detalle de sus acciones y la identidad de un contexto de inspiración que, en la literatura contextualizada en la Pampa Salitrera, forma parte del recuerdo de un pueblo avasallado por la modernidad, a partir de la caída del auge del oro blanco. La descripción del desierto de Atacama, la resequedad del ambiente, el sonido del viento, el clima extremo, el miedo a empampar, entre otros temas, están presentes en la literatura contextualizada en los Cantones salitreros situados entre las actuales regiones de Arica y Parinacota, Tarapacá y Antofagasta. Los textos que enmarcan su contexto literario en dicho sector visibilizan por medio de la literatura, la identidad local: es un contexto diferente, que da forma a una literatura disímil de otros registros. Al no estar enfocada en temáticas de la metrópolis, más allá de su carácter geográfico, no tiende a ser un texto reconocido como parte del canon nacional, generalmente es considerada subordinada, reflejo de un imaginario local desconocido y poco común para muchos, pero registro de arraigo e identidad para otros. La literatura del norte construye la identidad del sector y otorga vida al concepto de “Pampa”, generando una personificación metaforizada, que condiciona las vivencias de los personajes: la muerte y su normalización, la huelga constante, los abusos, la traición, las creencias, las condiciones deplorables en que vivían los obreros y la matanza como solución de conflictos.
