In this study, we ask ourselves about the factors associated with the success of parliamentarians in passing their motions. We used the 22.191 bills (motions) in which the legislators of the lower house of the Chilean Congress participated between 2006 and 2014. We defined the approval rate of the bills as a dependent variable. We took a series of independent variables such as gender, embership in a political party, previous experience in Congress, the presidency of a parliamentary commission, leading a bench, the vote with which he was elected, the characteristics of the district they represent, among others. We analyze who are the most effective legislators in approving their proposals. We believe that previous experience in Congress, gender, and membership in a moderate party are especially important characteristics in explaining legislative success.
