In the face of the crisis of civilization that we are experiencing - manifested in institutionalized practices of injustice and systematic transgression of human dignity and the beings that inhabit the Earth - this article aims to argue the contribution of intercultural studies to the reflection of rethinking sustainability. Firstly, it refers to the presuppositions of the unsustainability of the ways of life of our civilization in the light of interculturality. Secondly, it makes a critical reflection on the construction of knowledge from an intercultural perspective in the context of the challenges imposed by sustainability. Finally, it is hoped that the article evidences the importance of interculturality in the recovery/construction of a new myth of co-ownership among the different beings that inhabit the Earth.
