dc.description | The thesis that this paper seeks to defend refers to the fact that communication operates as a central element of the colonial device. It understands that its functioning occurs in differentiated but complementary levels of execution, which require an analysis of colonial power. First, it is proposed that the scientific field of communication is subject to a colonial rationality inaugurated by the 'ego - conquiro', which allows us to establish an alternative and complementary reading to communication studies that look to Aristotle's Rhetoric as their basic foundation. The second axis of reflection seeks to understand communication as a practice of social mediation. In this respect, it is pointed out that the hegemonic modalities of communication contribute to the processes of fragmentation experienced by all colonial societies. The paper ends with a reflection on the need to advance in a decolonizing path of communication studies and practices. | |
