Resumen
This chapter is mainly devoted to the preparation of bimetallic and organometallic supported materials by using surface organometallic chemistry on metals (SOMC/M) techniques, as a route to generate well-defined catalysts, from the reaction between an organotin compound (SnR4, R = achiral or chiral organic fragment) and a supported transition metal. In depth coverage is given of the specificity of the reaction, evolution of the active phase through the various activation steps, interaction between metals and characterization of active sites. Many hydrogenation processes, both chemo- and enantioselective ones, in which these catalysts are employed are also considered
