Resumen

A new species of Plebeia Schwarz (Hymenoptera: Apidae) from Argentina is described and illustrated. Plebeia mansita Alvarez & Rasmussen sp. nov. occurs in the extreme northwest of the country and is restricted to the biogeographic province of the Yungas, where it is found at altitudes above 1,000 m. Observations on behavior, biology and nesting substrates of the new species are presented.

Se describe e ilustra una nueva especie de Plebeia Schwarz (Hymenoptera: Apidae) en Argentina. Plebeia mansita Alvarez & Rasmussen sp. nov. ocurre en el extremo noroeste del país y se halla restringida a la provincia biogeográfica de las yungas, donde es encontrada a altitudes mayores a 1.000 m. También se presentan comentarios acerca de su comportamiento, hábitos y sustratos de nidificación.
