Resumen
One of the new goals of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development is to halve the world number of deaths and injuries due to traffic accidents by 2020. Traffic accidents involve the loss of 1.3 million people in the world each year , Thus becoming one of the main causes of death and the main cause in the young population between 15 and 29 years. In this paper we investigate the mortality situation in the province of La Rioja, Argentina, between 2011 and 2015 caused by transport accidents, particularly those suffered by motorcyclists, pedestrians and cyclists. These causes have increased considerably in recent years, bringing the health situation to a critical state. This is a descriptive and exploratory study based on the comparison of an Ad Hoc database with the records of road accidents covered by the press and the official death register. This comparison intends to obtain an evaluation of the official records and to evaluate the application of a public policy, which implied the detention of the people who handled alcoholized as a preventive measure.
