Japón y la revolución mexicana : las supuestas conjuras nipo-mexicanas contra la Doctrina Monroe, 1905-1925

En este trabajo, la concentración estará puesta en un periodo que va de 1905 a 1925, dos décadas en las que Japón figuró como leitmotif de los gobiernos mexicanos. El acento, sin embargo, se hará en tono a las percepciones que había en Estados Unidos acerca del papel que jugaba Japón en México. Hay realidades que los creadores de fantasías se han encargado de decorar con ribetes, y que es necesario explicar. Así mismo, hay circunstancias desconocidas que ameritan una contextualización. Durante el periodo de análisis, México retornó al esquema decimonónico, en el que se alternaban las dictaduras y revoluciones, aunque genéricamente la historiografía denomina a la época que va de la rebelión encabezada por Francisco I. Madero a la presidencia de Plutarco Elías Calles, como etapa de la Revolución Mexicana. Hemos decidido mantener esa convención por razones prácticas, a pesar de que en 1905 don Porfirio Díaz Mori todavía ejercía el poder a plenitud, y ni por asomo se pensaba en la inminencia de una revolución que alterara el orden establecido.
