Resumen
The research deals with the attempt to regulate the family held by the Evangelical
Front through the bill called Family Statute. In 2011 the Federal Supreme Court
recognized that homosexual couples could unite with the same rights as
heterosexual couples. As a reaction to this achievement for homosexual couples, it
was included by the evangelical front, in Bill 6,583 of 2013, called the Family
Statute, an article that proposes to legitimize the discrimination against family
compositions different from the monogamous heterosexual. This bill is a fertile
ground for the study of themes: family regulation and sexuality, religious
fundamentalism, post-Pentecostal movement, religion in modernity, and politicalreligious militancy. The normalization of family relationships and sexuality is not
new. In reality, sex / gender system is a structural element on which Western
Christian society was built and whose indispensability for the maintenance of labor,
political and economic systems only declined during the last century. Religion is
possibly the oldest element of family and sexuality control. Although it has never
disappeared, it has given way to other regulatory systems, such as law and
medicine. However, in Brazil, as well as in Latin America, the religious component
is still very strong and the sacra-Christian perception of the family as well. There is
a return of this system of control based on religion. At the current political moment,
it is essential to understand the principles and practices of the Evangelical Bench,
which is increasingly increasing its influence in the Brazilian Legislative Branch.
The work of the Evangelical Front is marked by strong conservatism and based on
fundamentalist religious doctrines, which can lead to loss of civil rights for many
minority groups whose beliefs and practices do not converge with the Christian
religion, especially homosexual couples.
