Resumen
Introduction Work accidents are considered a serious problem for Public Health,
occurring by the exercise of work causing bodily injury or functional disturbance that
causes death, or loss, or reduction, permanent or temporary, of the capacity for work
and traffic accidents during the trip to work. Objective Analyze the characteristics of
the victims of work accidents treated in urgency and emergency units and the
deficiencies and disabilities resulting from them in the municipalities of Mato Grosso,
2014. Methods Two-stage cross-sectional tudy: i) data of VIVA-Inquiry for 2014, with
a sample of 1,842 work accidents recorded in 16 urgency and emergency units in 14
municipalities in Mato Grosso; ii) data on the application of an instrument based on the
International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) were used for
the evaluation of disabilities and disabilities due to work and traffic accidents, with a
sample of 99 individuals from 13 municipalities. Statistical processing and analysis of
the data were performed using the statistical program STATA, with absolute and
relative frequencies, 95% confidence interval, prevalence ratio and Pearson's Chi-square
test (X2) to verify significant associations (P <0.05). Results Predomintad of male
population (81.0%), of brown color (54.4%), aged between 20 and 39 years (57.6%),
mean educational level (42.8%) and worker in property production and industrial
services (discrete form) (39.6%). Accidents were of the type of transport accidents
(37.8%) occurred on public roads (41.2%). In traffic accidents, the driver was involved
(88.0%) and the motorcycle was the main means of locomotion (73.4%). The lesion was
cut/lacerated (42.1%) in the upper limbs (37.3%) or lower (28.1%). The clinical course
was discharged immediately after entry into the service (73.1%). Working in the
occupations of property production and industrial services was associated with male
sex, cut/laceration and illiteracy or elementary school, and inverse association for ages
between 15 and 29 years and traffic accident. Being male was associated with brown
color, cut lesion/laceration and illiteracy or elementary school education, and inverse
association for non alcohol consumption and traffic accident. Functional deficiencies of
the body were pain (52.8%) and neuromusculoskeletal (41.5%) with severe and mild
extension. Deficiencies in body structure were related to movement (88.1%) and skin
(8.3%), with moderate and mild extension. Activity and participation limitations were
of the mobility type (43.6%) and personal care (15.0%), with moderate and mild
extension. (59.4%) and products and technologies (25.0%), with full magnitudes, and as
facilitators support and relationships (42.3%) and products and technologies ( 31.8%),
with full extensions. There was association between part of the body affected of lower
limbs and deficiency of body structure. Conclusions The profile of the worker who
suffers an accident and is disabled and/or incapacitated represents the magnitude of the
problem, reaching a significant portion of the young-adult population, being necessary
the guarantee of health policy.
