docente, con impacto preponderante en las trayectorias de profesores/profesoras principiantes;
ABSTRACT
This text is the result of a Doctorate research developed in the scope of the UFMT
Postgraduate Program. The research was delineated from the question: how do Portuguese
and Spanish language beginner teachers of the final years of Basic Education experience and
construct meanings that support the initial process of becoming a teacher in professional
teacher development? The research sought to understand the senses built up in the
professional development processes of teachers of Portuguese and Spanish Language in the
initial stage of becoming a teacher; as well as to identify the routes and trajectories of teachers
at the beginning of professional development; to understand ways of being and doing of
beginner teachers who work in the area of language in the State Network of Teaching of MT.
It has been anchored in Narrative Research in perspectives that approximate the way in which
Clandinin and Connelly conceive it. The senses and meanings were composed of a set of
narratives, produced by the participants of the research and narratives produced by the
researcher (journal of the researcher). Composition that sought to cross-relate narratives and
contexts; places and times with paths, trajectories, experiences and meanings. For that, five
participants were followed during the course of two years: three male teachers and two female
teachers. Four of Portuguese Language and one of Spanish Language that acted in different
school contexts, all located in Várzea Grande - MT. The contexts of action interfere strongly
in the processes of professional teacher development, with a preponderant impact on the
trajectories of beginners teachers; they impact on novice teachers differently, what is
discouraging for others, are possibilities, challenges and an invitation to reinvent themselves;
public policies, at least with regard to in-service teacher training and early professional
development processes, can not be conceived from a homogenizing perspective. The
participants attribute rather idiosyncratic senses to the way they have become teachers. For
one of the participants, the most striking fact is the possibility of transforming lives, reshaping
the existences of young people, adults and the elderly who attend her classes. Another
highlights the possibility of constantly reinventing themselves in order to get closer to the
students and to understand the reasons that lead them to do what they are doing, challenged by
groups of adolescents, as much as possible to become a teacher there where the contents that
she teaches converge to the lives lived by beings in this intense metamorphose, does not do it
in a quixotic and solitary way, always looked for the fundamental support of the pairs. For
another, the teaching profession is meaningless, although, it continues acting, it has no reason
to continue as a teacher. One of the participants points out that the meaning of becoming a
teacher lies in achieving maximum recognition by the students "being the guy to them".
Another finds sense in being a teacher based on a deontology, in which the teacher can not
allow himself to be taken by customary and easy ways, must be committed to the personal
evolution of each student. In the initial process of becoming teachers, beginner teachers
complete complex trajectories, in which technical knowledge and experiential knowledge are
intertwined in different dimensions, which only make sense in the encounter of personality
with professionalism.
