Resumen
INTRODUCTION: Animal Assisted Interventions has been designated as a new work strategy among the health, social and educational sciences. It is observed that this type of intervention generates physical, emotional and social benefits in the environment in which it is applied. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to investigate the contributions and presence of psychology in AAIs in the hospital context. METHOD: A systematic review research was conducted, scientific publications from the years 2015 to 2020 were used, taken from the SCIELO, PEPSIC, LILACS, BVSalud and PUBMED databases using the descriptors: Animal-Assisted Interventions; Animal-Assisted Therapy; Animal-Assisted Activity and Hospital. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: There is a growing interest in research in the area, however, with regard to Psychology, only mentions of benefits and psychological aspects were made, without explaining these processes or mentioning professional performance. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: In this way, the need for further studies to investigate the psychological processes resulting from AAIs is evident, since psychological science has many contributions to make to improve the understanding of the effects of intervention on people, in order to collaborate in the elaboration of practice in AAIs.
