dc.description.abstractThe tough lovegrass (Eragrostis plana Nees) is an invasive grass native to South Africa, arrived in Brazil in the 1950s, had its first record of occurrence in Rio Grande do Sul. There are few papers that report on the occurrence sites of the situation, and the works that present an alternative for the use of its biomass that remains in the field after the use of herbicides and with a degradation of allelopathic effect on native species. Thus, the present study had as main objective the evaluation of the invasion of tough lovegrass in Brazil and the information about the glucose extraction of the residual biomass of the species using hydrolysis with subcritical water. In order to survey the invasion of the species in Brazil, we used virtual herbaceous nets, a database of Instituto Horus and expeditions to the field. The data found in Brazil have the level of invasion, with the highest number of occurrences in the state, and Cachoeira do Sul occurs in all districts and in the urban area. Hydrolysis of the biomass with subcritical water and quantification of glucose in spectrophotometer. The highest concentrations of glucose were 16,88; 21,22; 24,20; 25.75 and 31.74 g.L-1. The hydration time of 2 minutes and the temperature of 220 ° C is indicated for a biomass / water mass ratio of 10, that is, the average temperature is 180 ° C, and the times of 8 or 10 minutes, or 220 ° C and 10 minutes.
