This undergraduate final work presents a bibliographic review on batteries and DC-DC isolated bidirectional converters to introduce the Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converter, used in power systems to connect a DC bus to a batteries bank. In the chapter of the bibliographic review, the most used battery technologies with the power system are presented, as well as some DC-DC isolated bidirectional converters found in the literature. Subsequently, the DAB converter is treated in greater detail, through the stages of operation, characteristic waveforms and modulation types, with greater focus on phase-shift modulation and multiple variables modulation. In addition, a method for estimating switching losses during the operation of the converter is presented, as well as some switch auxiliary circuits studied. Finally, the experimental results obtained with operation in PSM and MMV are presented, followed by the final considerations.
