Reforma psiquiátrica: um caminho a ser percorrido

Abstract

The aim of this paper is on the one hand to propose and examine the past history of psychiatry, using a historical route of the Psychiatric Reform, as well as describing their goals, which now surround the mental health and supports the rights of the mentally ill. On the other hand the article’s goal is also to present the remodeling process of attention to mental health, through a theoretical approach to a literature, to highlight progress made and strategies that may help in structuring a model of care that prioritizes the individual with mental illness in its particularity, giving them a humane treatment to avoid being away from social life. Both mental health and reform of psychiatry have come a long way that established the basis for the reorientation of psychiatric care. The process of the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform undertakes modifications to a mental health strategies humanized, but this requires accountability of the team that is part of this process. Therefore this article aims to contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in practice with the mentally ill, because the psychiatric reform creates new clinical practices.
