dc.description.abstract | In times of predominance of the neoliberal ideology based on the globalized economy and the
possessive individualism feeding and disseminating processes of inequalities and violation of
rights in all levels and sectors of society, many challenges are put to the Social Work, that in
follow-up to these dynamics and profound transformations requires strategies and new
mechanisms of intervention in social reality. The main objective of this work is to approach
art in general and its interlocution with the Social Work, recognizing its importance as a
means of mediation in the daily activities of the Social Worker in a differentiated professional
space, contributing to the construction and / or strengthening of emancipatory social processes
of the people. It will also present the history of Social Service in the Brazilian context, art as
an instrument of professional intervention to unveil reality with the possibility of building the
critical thinking of the people promoting their autonomy and emancipation, and other limits
and possibilities of the profession in this space, in the perspective and commitment according
to the professional ethical-political project. The construction of this work based on the
experience of compulsory curricular traineeship of the Federal University of Santa Maria
(UFSM) together with the Association Orchestrating Art (AOA) was perceived as a
possibility to motivate the Social Workers professionals in the search for mechanisms and
instruments differentiated in the daily life of their activities, for resolution of demands that are
always placed on the reaffirmation of a democratic society and with social justice. | |
