Resumen
The purpose of this research is to explore the potentialities of the social media website Twitter, as a space for narrative production, with the main goal being to observe the ways in which the author Adam Ellis appropriates the resources of the platform to develop his narrative “Dear David”. Therefore, the first chapter of this work is a contextualization about what are narratives, how they are structured and the elements thay composse them, in addition to that, the relationship between reality and fiction are also approached, since the narrator utilizes a diaristic language, of personal reporting to tell his story. Following up, the internet is approached, since its creation, until the emergence of Computer Mediated Comunication tools, and the birth of Participation Culture, which brought along the democratization of contente production; Twitter is then presented. After a brief presentation of the research object, the methodological proceedings of Critical Analysis of Narrative, by Motta (2013) and Narrative Analysis, by Gancho (1993), are presented, which were amalgamated into a unique methodology for the analysis of Dear David. From this methodological input, the narrative elementos and strategies for the production of a realism effect employed by Ellis were identified, in order to discuss how the narrative is constructed on Twitter. It is verified that Ellis did full use of the resources offered by Twitter and used the limitations imposed by the social media to his own favor, creating a fluid and engaging narrative, displaying how favorable Twitter is for the production of narratives.
