Resumen
This research in the area of art history, theory and criticism aims to recognize and analyze the production of three pioneers of art and technology in Brazil – Abraham Palatnik, Waldemar Cordeiro and Julio Plaza – and their contributions to contemporary art thinking. The period analyzed includes the 1950s and 1970s. These artists, named in this research as pioneers, were the main responsible for the first Brazilian experiments in the area. In this study we used the historical and qualitative approach, with emphasis on the different technological languages used by artists, based on bibliographical references, images and the analysis of a work of each artist. For this, the text is structured in three chapters: the first presents Abraham Palatnik, the pioneer in kinetic art; the second, Waldemar Cordeiro, the pioneer in computer art; and the third, Julio Plaza, the pioneer in art and videotext. In all the chapters, we present the biography, a small historical review, the artistic movements to which they were linked and the way in which each artist contributed to Brazilian art and technology, collaborating to think the context of contemporary art.
