Capital intelectual das empresas de tecnologia da informação e comunicação: um estudo de caso

In the age of knowledge, which was possible by the expansion of Information and Communication Technology, it’s noticeable a strong forward by the companies who based their business activity in this sector: Information and Communication Technology companies, also known as ICT. Considering that intellectual capital is significantly present in these companies equities, an accurate identification, measurement and analysis of its importance, add value to these companies. In this context, is part of the problem-question: What is the importance attached to intellectual capital by the company’s managers over Technology and Communication sector of Information indexed to the Technology Incubator of Santa Maria (ITSM)? Faced to the problem, this study aimed to identify whether the managers of these companies bestowed the Intellectual Capital upon their importance. To achieve this goal, the methodology used was descriptive and case study. Data collection occurred through secondary data using specialized books and articles; and primary data through an application form to the companies which took part in the study. The main outcome of the research is: there is strong evidence that Technology and Communication companies and the sector of Information indexed to the Technology Incubator of Santa Maria are not giving due importance to managerial identification, measurement and analysis of this feature that is a substantial portion of their composition: the intellectual capital.
