This work presents a study about the tourism in Brazil: development or stagnation? Through this, it tries to present an evolution of the tourism in Brazil and to verify the tourism a development factor is considered or of stagnation. For the accomplishment of this work, pertinent theoretical references were approached to the subject that they served as subsidy to observe that the tourism is significant for the global economy and one of the most dynamic sections in the than he concerns the process of world integration. It was ended that in Brazil the section of the tourism has been relegated to a secondary plan in the elaboration of politics publish in what says respect at the levels of organization of the State. There is still a long road to tread so that she can reach the level of longed for development. Therefore, he becomes a positive contribution for the Brazilian society the concern of the several areas of the knowledge with the theme and the latent researches inside of the academic middle.
