O editor como parte da nova cadeia de publicação: uma experiência de autopublicação

Abstract

The present study is composed by a self-publishing experiment made in the Kindle Direct Publishing platform as a way to find out the editors and editorial producers’ possible acting position in order to help authors in a new book production chain, characterized by self-publishing practices. Its theoretical basis deals with themes related to the consolidation of the book chain and its participants, focusing on authors and editors, as well as the legitimation of works, the chain’s reconfiguration and aspects aimed at self-publishing. At this work’s development three ways of self-publishing techniques are also taken into account: the crowdfunding, the Print on Demand and the independent publishing through digital platforms as well as the opinions of four authors who have worked with some of these techniques on their own work. With these circumstances, it was possible to point the main difficulties found by authors adept to self-publishing practices as well as perspectives of a future insertion in the work market for editors and authors.
