As características curriculares dos cursos de ciências econômicas das principais universidades federais do Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract

Motivated by the difficult in understanding the course, especially for the ones who are planning on entering, this paper aims to verify, by comparing, the curricular characteristics of the Economic Science Courses of the main public universities of Rio Grande do Sul, in the cities: Santa Maria (UFSM), Porto Alegre (UFRGS), Pelotas (UFPel) and Rio Grande (FURG), as well as describe the historical and present context of the Economic Science Course, characterize the profession and the professional profile of the Economist in Brazil, to verify the curricular guidelines of the course and make and analysis through the comparison of the curriculum each studied university has. For that, a descriptive research was elaborated and it was used for the data collect the bibliographic and documental research from authors of the area, official websites, laws, decrees and resolutions. This study has clarified the economist profession and reveled characteristics about the curriculum of the courses as the main requirement to be in the theoretical-quantitative education, besides pointing UFRGS and FURG as the more flexible universities. Finally, it’s noticed the importance of understanding the Economic Science course and the need for the universities to clarify to the students and future students the objective of the economist education in order to avoid having professionals who are frustrated with their graduation and profession.
