Although the Brazilian population is predominantly Christian, there is also a plurality of religious beliefs from different backgrounds. In the same way that this characteristic is a trait capable of enabling respect for difference, it is also a catalyst for violence and intolerance. The school cannot remain indifferent to this issue, as religious intolerance exists and is also manifested in school daily life. In this context, this paper aims to reflect and discuss the difficulties faced by teachers and students in relation to religious diversity, seeking solutions so that it becomes possible to make students choose and remain in a training that aims inclusion and respect the difference. Through a bibliographic se-arch, the study seeks to contextualize Religious Education in public schools, its mandatory offer and optional enrollment, reflect on the religious diversity in Brazil and its reflexes in the classroom, and recognize strategies capable of making educating choose and remain in the discipline of religious education, as a discipline that aims at inclusion and respect for difference.
