Resumen
Changes in the dynamics of the rotator cuff muscles can affect the positioning
and movements of the scapula. Changes in approach and retraction movements of the
scapular can generate difficulty in shoulder stabilization, causing impingement of the
rotator cuff, which may progress to rupture. In such cases, surgery is indicated
according to the pain and functional impairment of the patient. This study investigates
the scapular positioning of four patients in the preoperative of rotator cuff. For the
analysis of scapular position, we used the photogrammetric method of Postural
Assessment Software - SAPO and radiological imaging, using the program EFilm. It was
found that there are few studies focusing on assessment of scapular motion, both in
healthy subjects, as in injuries. In the cases studied, patients A, B and D had
approximate scapulae on the affected side, while the individual C has clearance on this
side. As for lifting shoulder A, C and D had this change, while B did not change. It
appears that there are alterations in scapular positioning of individuals in the preoperative
of rotator cuff. We suggest a study to evaluate a greater number of individuals
in the pre-and postoperatively, so that we can demonstrate the relationship between
changes in scapular position preoperatively with developments in physiotherapy rehabilitation.
