This Course Completion Work (TCC) of Social Work aims to carry out a synthesis of the experience lived by the academic in the mandatory curricular internship held at the Center for the Defense of the Rights of Children and Adolescents- CEDEDICA in the municipality of Santa Maria (RS) from July 2021 to December 2021, from the intervention project “Building Tomorrow” which aimed to develop a life project with adolescents who are serving a socio-educational measure in an open environment at the institution from the perspective of breaking the practice of infractions. Adolescents assisted by the institution comply with socio-educational measures in an open environment they are Assisted Liberty and Community Service. Firstly, a historical recovery is carried out in the field of the rights of children and adolescents, protection policies, services and legislation, approaching, especially, the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA) (BRAZIL, 1990), highlighting it as an achievement in the field of human rights for this target audience. Then, enter, socio-educational measures, specifically those in an open environment and the laws that regulate them, as the National System of Socio-educational Assistance (SINASE). Furthermore, CEDEDICA will be presented, elucidating the work performed by him and the role of the social worker in the institution. Emphasizing the importance of this professional in the area of socio-education, acting directly with the expressions of the social issue and committed to the Code of Professional Ethics, seeking to make possible the guarantee of the rights and exercise of citizenship of this population. The intervention project “Building Tomorrow” was given to five teenagers, according to the established criteria, however, only two participated effectively. Despite the low adherence, the activities carried out between the intern and the adolescents were fruitful, thus providing opportunities for reflection and exchange of knowledge, from the perspective of breaking with the practice of the infraction.
