Resumen
Abstract: This research addressed the discussion on the role of technical assistance and rural
extension in the transmission of knowledge about economic and financial management to rural
properties. In this context, the objective of the work was to analyze whether there is a possibility
of intervention by technical assistance agents in the process of economic and financial
management of rural properties in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The research was carried out
in two stages and two technical procedures: the questionnaire and the interviewThe
questionnaire was divided into four blocks of issues, than the characterization of the technical
assistant, characterization of the rural properties served, the type of assistance provided by
technical assistants and the importance attributed to economic and financial management by
technical assistance agents and the possibility of their intervention in this process. The interview
sought to deepen some aspects related to the economic-financial management of the properties,
identifying the main difficulties encountered in transmitting this knowledge to rural producers,
so that alternatives capable of contributing to this process can be studied. The survey sample is
not probabilistic, and the questionnaire was applied so online through Google Forms. For the
interviews were selected some respondents that allowed depeen some questions about it. The
data were tabulated in Microsoft Excel ®
spreadsheets and analyzed using descriptive statistics,
analysis of variance and averaging tests, using the SAS ®
software. Were also built arrays of
importance x possibility of intervention, by adapting the method Slack, Chambers and
Jhonston (2008). The first article of the dissertation identified that the profile of the technical
assistance agent is the one that most significantly interferes in the process of economic and
financial management of rural properties, as the frequency of updates and the area of training
are significant ( α = 0 , 10 by the F test). The second the demonstrated that s service agents
attach high importance to economic and financial management of property rurals, but the
intervention in this case is low. In this bias, the technical assistance with the greatest possibility
of intervention is the consulting and advisory companies, while the suppliers of inputs have the
least possibility of intervention. Finally, in the last article, the difficulties encountered by
technical assistance agents in transmitting knowledge to rural producers were listed which
reflects the low possibility of intervention. It was found that these difficulties are mostly related
to the profile of the rural producer who appears to be more conservative, with a lack of
knowledge about aspects related to economic-financial management and with few financial
resources to invest. The performance of technical assistance is also seen however in the
minority, as responsible for the low possibility of intervention with professionals focused on
other specific segments of technical assistance and not directed to economic and financial
management of rural properties.
