dc.description.abstract | E-hailing services are constantly growing throughout the world, providing practicality, reliability and
economic attractiveness for both users and drivers. In this context the Uber transport application
started operating in the city of Santa Maria in the first quarter of 2018., The main issue that motivated
the realization of this work is the research problem: currently, is Uber economically more attractive
than owning a car in the city of Santa Maria? Thus, the objective of this work is to perform an
economic feasibility analysis of the private car in relation to Uber in the city of Santa Maria through
economic indicators.. For this to be possible, twenty-eight calculation scenarios were created that
alternated between the private car, the Uber, different kilometers traveled daily and differents
Minimum Attractive Rates of Return (MARRs). The methods of analysis used to achieve the objective
were Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback and Payback Discounted.
Based on the results found, the mains conclusions of this study were that the enterprise proved to be
feasible, positive NPV, for the scenarios envolving Uber up to 20 Km traveled daily, furthermore, the
scenarios involving Uber proved to be more economically feasible than the scenarios that covered the
private car. | |
