The Unified Health System (SUS) is one of the greatest achievements of the Brazilian people. However, ensure public budget adequate to account for its funding is a problem that imposes itself on the system managers. The lack of adequate funding in the health brings repercussions throughout society and the government, either by social aspect as by the economic and financial aspect. The current article deals with the SUS Financing, drawing a picture of its current situation, its advances and limitations, in order to guide those interested in this area, and giving them understanding of newer aspects that involve the thematic of health financing in Brazil. As for the method, the research is classified as exploratory and bibliografic, of qualitative and quantitative approach. The results point to a discussion of the overall picture of public health and the implications of earmarking of revenues destinated to the health by the three federated entities in the light of Constitutional Amendment (CA) 29/2000. It also seeks to position the reader in understanding of how are funded the health services in the country, discussing issues such as "underfunding" health and "pluralism" in the sources of funding.
