The present study sought to analyze whether there is a relationship between revenues and expenses from financial intermediation, as well as the result of mediation of the 50 largest banks in the National Financial System, ranked according to the Central Bank of Brazil, with the SELIC Rate, from 2005 to 2010. To analyze whether there is a relationship between the variables, was used the linear correlation coefficient of Pearson, and the result was classified according to the table Barbetta, where it is possible to measure the strength and direction of this correlation. The results show that there is no relationship between revenue, expenses and income from financial intermediation with the SELIC rate, that is, changes experienced by the revenues, expenses and income from financial intermediation are not accompanied by changes in the Selic rate.
