Resumen
Individual actions are strongly influenced by social institutions and identities that are part of
the agent. One of these actions is domestic work, which, in the course of history was
presented as women’s responsibility. So, this paper intends to answer the following question:
how was the construction and the process of institutionalization of gender identity, which
includes care and domestic work and which are the relations of the social economy as an area
of study with the process of creation and institutionalization of gender identities, in which is
the care inserted? Social economics plays a fundamental role in the study of the construction
and the process of institutionalization of gender identities, in which care and domestic work
are inserted to allow the joint study of society and economy, and for this reason it is
emphasized here. It will also be seen how the process of constructing gender identities took
place, making the care of women responsible. Also, data are presented that show that, in fact,
domestic work is socially instituted as a woman's job and how it affects paid work of the
female gender.
